Telecommunications
Cyprus ranks fourth worldwide in
telecommunications facilities. CYTA (Cyprus
Telecommunication Authority) has a network which
enables participants to have direct dial access to
over 200 countries. CYTA also offers a telegraph
service, ship-to-shore calls through the Cyprus
station and INMARSAT satellite system, radio paging,
mobile telephone net (NMT and GSM) as well as the
recently introduced switched public data network
(CYTAPAK).
Cyprus is serviced through the Makarios satellite
station with INTELSAT and EUTELSAT systems. Also the
post and courier services of the island with express
and datapost mail are very efficient and well
organised.
